FootJoy Shoe Fitting Day
On Friday, 26 August we will be hosting a FootJoy shoe fitting day. For those of you thinking of investing in a new pair of shoes, this is the perfect opportunity to get your feet measured by a member of the FootJoy team to ensure you get the best fit possible. Due to the popularity of the events, I would strongly advise booking an appointment as no guarantees can be made that you will be able to be seen on the day without one.
To book your spot please contact the pro shop by clicking here.
9 Hole Par 3 Tournament
A fun and challenging par three course played over the back nine holes of which some have been shortened by use of temporary tees specifically for this tournament. The event will be taking place on Friday, 26 August with tee times between 3:04pm and 5:28pm. Entry costs £5 for members and £15 for members' guests.
Please book your tee time early to avoid disappointment.
Amateurs or pros?
Welcome to this week's newsletter. By the time you read this a few medals will have been handed out already in Rio - but who's going to take home Olympic gold in the golf?
The build-up to Rio - in terms of the golf - was dominated by many of the game's biggest stars dropping out, and these players have all received a lot of criticism for doing so.
Was the Zika virus a convenient excuse? Can today's elite stars be forgiven for skipping the Games because of their hectic schedules? Where does an Olympic gold medal stack up against a Green Jacket or Claret Jug?
Whatever your opinion, it has raised the question as to whether amateur golfers should have been targeted to represent the sport in Rio, rather than professionals.
We'd be interested to know your opinion, so pop to our homepage and register your vote.
It's a discussion that will rumble on. In the meantime, let's see how those who are playing get on. When the medal ceremony does take place, we wonder whether any of those who did decide to withdraw will regret their decision. Just a thought…
