Southern UK Golf Par 3 Championships 2018 - Monday, 28 May

Join us for the inaugural Southern UK Golf Par 3 Championships at Nailcote Hall Hotel. The format consists of a 27 Hole Championship around Nailcote’s Cromwell course. With various challenges on the day for best morning and afternoon score, nearest the pins and lots more. The Champion Golfer of the Year will be the player with the best stableford score over 27 holes. The itinerary includes:

  • 27 holes on the Nailcote Course.
  • Coffee and bacon rolls on arrival.
  • Two course lunch.
  • Prizes for the main competition and skills championships.

£75 per person (£20 deposit required to secure you place). Open to male and female golfers with a handicap of 18 or below. Limited exclusively to the first 36 entrants.

40 years later…

If someone were to ask you to name the first caddie that popped into your head – or the name of any caddie for that matter – our money is on Steve Williams. Are we right?

It’s not surprising given the fact he was on the bag of a certain Tiger Woods during his supreme dominance between 1999 and 2011, not to mention winning the Masters again with Adam Scott thereafter. Well, in a recent interview, the New Zealander confirmed that he “absolutely” plans to stop caddying in 2018, rounding off a fruitful 40-year career at the top of the game.

This makes us wonder: How important do you think a caddie is? How influential is a caddie on a professional’s ability to play their best golf?

Is 'ready golf' the way forward?

Earlier this year the R&A and USGA released a proposed set of rules changes in an effort to bring the rulebook up to date. This week we’re going to look at one of the modifications that has been proposed to help improve our pace of play.

Why change?
The time it takes to play 18 holes is a hot topic and it’s one of the primary reasons many people give as to why they don’t play as much or even at all. Let’s face it, nobody wants a long round, so anything that promotes faster golf is surely a positive?

Try ready golf
‘Ready golf’ is something many of you will already do during social games. It is when a player plays out of turn in stroke play because they’re ready and it's safe to hit, rather than wait longer to play in turn. This will be actively encouraged during competitions in the new rulebook. We think it’s a good idea, do you agree?
