Ball FittingAre you using the right ball?

We have a Titleist Ball Fitting Event on Wednesday, 24 June running from 11am through to 3pm. There will be four one hour sessions each run in groups of eight people, so if you would like to book a slot please click here to get in touch with the team.

Who's off to Wentworth this weekend? Whether you have plans to visit the famous venue or watch a bit of the golf in the clubhouse, it's great just to see some top-class action here on British soil for a change.

Here are a few dates for the diary for you golf nuts out there who fancy watching some live action a bit closer to home this year:

May 21-24, BMW PGA Championship, Wentworth, Surrey
May 28-31, Irish Open, Royal County Down, Newcastle
July 9-12, Scottish Open, Gullane, East Lothian
July 16-19, The Open, St Andrews, Fife
July 30-2 August, Paul Lawrie Matchplay, Murcar Links, Aberdeen
October 1-4, Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, St Andrews, Carnoustie & Kingsbarns
October 8-11, British Masters, Woburn

Enjoy the action and we hope to see you down the club. If you need anything please pop into the shop or click here to send us an email.

Lesson one

Lorna explained that she was finding it difficult to create compression with her iron play. Her bad shots would be thin/low and occasionally to the left. The first picture shows Lorna having a strong right hand grip on the club (being too far underneath the club). This will cause the club face to close at impact (point left). As a result Lorna's trajectory can sometimes be low and slightly to the left. Furthermore by adopting that strong right hand grip, Lorna will find it difficult to create wrist hinge in the backswing as shown in the second picture.

I discussed with Lorna the importance of having a good grip in order for her to create better strikes and produce higher and straighter shots. Picture three shows Lorna's right hand being more on top of the grip. This allows her to have greater control of the clubface during the golf swing and in particular during impact. The final picture shows the improvement in wrist hinge during the backswing meaning Lorna was able to create more compression on the ball, which resulted in a higher ball flight and improved striking.
