Many of you will allready know we have an ES14 launch monitor here at Oxford Golf Club. Small, lightweight and transferring data via Bluetooth to either an iPad or Android, the ES14 will improve your club fitting experience and allow us to view a more detailed results of how each club performs.

The ES14 is also easily set up to give us the details of how far you hit each club, so we are now offering 'Gapping' sessions to give you the exact distances that you hit each club. A session will also tell us if you have any big gaps between clubs that needs addressing, and will give you accurate distances of how far you hit those all-important short irons!

Find the fairway every time

Now doesn't that sound nice! Prior to the Irish Open one commentator remarked: "Anyone who's not driving the ball well this week can forget about winning." How true. On some courses you may be able to get away with it but not at Royal County Down, especially when it's wet and windy.

Yes, holing putts is important and being able to drive the ball a mile will help, but isn't the game a lot easier when you're playing the game from the fairways?

Our advice is to try and not to let a narrow fairway faze you. So you commit fully to the shot, pick a spot in front of your ball that sits directly on your line. You should aim to force the head of your club over this spot after impact to ensure that you release it powerfully towards the target.
