We can all learn a thing or two from the weekend'saction in America. For those of you who missed it,US Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III claimed PGATour title number 21 at the age of 51, and TigerWoods' season ended prematurely with his biggest'missed cut' of the season: no place in the top125 or the FedEx Cup Playoffs.
Love proved that you are never too old to win, which should provide inspiration for all of us -especially the over 50s! Who's to say that hewon't make the USA team if he carries on this formover the next 12 months?
Meanwhile, Woods put in an admirable effort toqualify for the Playoffs only to undo all his hardwork on the par-4 11th where he racked up a treblebogey, which included a dreaded shank. It was acredit to him that he rebounded with four birdiesin the last six holes to remind everyone that hemight not quite be a spent force just yet.
The meltdown on 11 is something I'm sure we canall relate to. It can be so easy to let somethinglike this affect your mind-set for the rest of theround, but this is where the best in the worldshow such strong character. Next time you blob ahole or run up a high number, don't let it ruinthe rest of your round. Treat the hole as a pieceof paper: screw it up, throw it in the bin andmove on to the next hole.
